.... For Nothing Left To Lose....... thank you to Miss Joplin for immortalizing those sage words...... so, I have been away for a few weeks........... much has happened.... some good, some bad, alot of life.... with all it's ups and downs and round and rounds........ I would tell everyone about what has transpired since I disappeared but frankly, I dont want to hear about it again.

Oh, ok... there's one thing that's been bopping around my Randy head..... I recently discovered that at the very southern tip of the world, the South Pole, the sun rises on September 21st after lurking under the horizon for a dark and very frigid half year.... yes, on my birthday, the weak sun of the deep Antarctic makes it's welcome appearance and it rolls around in the sky for six months before dropping out of sight again in March...... I am completely obtuse about many things in life but something like that just sticks in my brain...... makes me overthink.... the way I love to do..... there has to be some kind of analogy there about the swings in my emotions and fortunes........ and it's true... I do go through long periods of deadly darkness..... 70 degrees below zero in my soul.... the talents and abilities to change the things I need to change about myself are frozen solid.... rigid..... freezing burning ice to those who try to push me in the right direction......... my energy levels are just above absolute zero at times like that..... my very atoms are struggling to stay warm.... and then the sun peaks over the lonely edge of the world just as I am giving up hope..... light.... and hope...... and another chance to take advantage of that warm feeling of clarity that I get from time to time...... not enough heat to fully melt the ice around my heart but enough to get the blood flowing again..... and that's a start.... always a start....... and only God can give that to me..... thank you God for another shot at redemption.... if this all seems cryptic and esoteric, well it is.... and it's just as vague and blurry to your author too..... I'm just along for the ride.

Hiya Streamers!

Yes, we had one of those freaky southern styled snow events yesterday..... it was pretty, but it didnt stick around long...... today is COLD..... the only snow left is draped across mountaintops.... it's a sunny day and the sun lets the white radiate out into the clear crisp air..... I might go and get some pics today..... of course watching football in a warm bed might just take priority over that...

I took a break from my endless Civil War reading to devour a book about the natural history of the Appalachians.... very interesting stuff to me and I learned alot..... I love these mountains but there is so much to learn about the trees and animals that reside up in these hills...... so, I have decided to get a field guide soon about the plants and animals of our region to take along on my jaunts in the woods....

Anyway.... I'm doing better lately..... down to a lean and efficient 170 pounds.... it's nice to look in the mirror and see no love handles...... I'm nearly 50 pounds lighter than a year ago.

I'm gonna try to return all the great comments I received from my friends here last week..... hope you are all doing great!

I got lost in the woods while bushwacking up on Cheaha yesterday.

Scared the wits out of me.

I dont get lost easy but the sun went down and I lost my bearings......... had to bushwack back up the mountain to find the trail..... up and up and up and up I went.... with the chill setting in...... if you want to find out what you're made of.... get lost in the woods. A real gut check moment. Today my legs and butt are SORE.
