This is the first poem I ever wrote and probably my favorite, so I like to reissue it from time to time...
.
"The Appalachian Moon"
I remember the first time I saw you.
You Shined.
We became as one on those warm summer nights
and I pulled down the stars for you.
I loved to lay with you in the meadows
under the Appalachian Moon.
We went hand in hand together
as the years went by we weathered
the storms.
and in the calm we stopped to remember
our Appalachian moon.
You were my light
and still would shine
an eclipse that came too soon.
I wake to reach you
But you are gone.
I struggle to the meadow, the stars out of reach
and weep with the Appalachian moon.
