Life After The Hollow

 A Thief In Our House

There's a thief in this house
and dearly he's loved
There's a liar among us
with no help from above

The hit comes from inside
there is nowhere to hide
he wipes our tears, while his pockets are full
He plays the hero, while he plays us the fool

We sleep with one eye open, just in the case..
We toss and turn, our nightmares filled with his face
His jokes and his tall tales
cover the evil of his soul
But we keep him happy
despite any toll

He knows he has us
Deep in his grip
He laughs at our protest!
He laughs at our slip!

to worry our things
that we love so near and dear
He eyes our worry, our strain and our fear

He must go now!
He must go today!
Why in the hell is he here anyway?

So, the thief must go, sent back into the night!
Our sweet children are asleep
we must do what is right!

 Hummingbirds!!

Well, hello my hollowphiles!

I have to report that the hummingbirds we have been waiting so long for, have finally made their appearance. There were just two of the speedy little birds around all summer, until the last couple of weeks the gates have just opened and the hummingbird population in our yard has exploded. They are everywhere! They happily buzz all around and will chase eachother and bob and weave through the trees and through anyone carrying on a conversation while standing in the grass. They are just beautiful!

I think there could be a couple dozen or so, living around the property now. They feed at our special hummingbird feeders and they love to feed in the flowerbed out front that we planted.

It's a relief to have them here after the drudgery of the summer with the same old birds coming everyday. Now, I LOVE all my little birdies, I was just ready for something new.

....and NOT new squirrels!

 Here's The Deal....

I am too out of it to go into proper grammatical form and what not but here's the deal....

I didn't sleep ONE WINK last night. Didn't even try. Knew it would be hopeless. Read all night in the creepy pink room til the sun came through the windows this morning.

Prayed some.... not the best prayer time I have ever had.

Poor Secret is sick with the CRAP I whined about on here for days....and I guess am STILL whining about...the aftermath, anyway.

Ate my second meal in 5 days tonight. Deluxe supremey style papa johns pizza. BAD idea. May never eat again, frankly! Screw it!

Moped around. Still havent heard about my real estate license coming through yet.

Um... I DID back both the van and my car out of the carport, dragged everything out of it, rearranged, threw away, swept it sprayed it out with the hose, and..... then put it all back.... meaning I finished what I started!!

I'm not normally a good finisher!!

What?

anyway, I got that deal done to which Secret seemed rather groggy and flat. I need CONSTANT AFFIRMATION that I did a good job on something!!!

Secret's theory is.....well, if you're NOT getting yelled at, you DID a good job. What do ya want a medal? Geeze!

Ok. I'm a tad high maintainance..

Anyway...

Got a little cranky once.

Got kinda happy twice? No, three times.

Oh, had a big family night. Fun with teenagers and all that fun teenagery stuff that's fun.... stuff.

Had a WICKED thunderstorm blow through this PM and we got SOME rain but not much for all the flash and fury...

Took some pictures.

Now, trying to catch up on blog READING which I am woefully behind on.

and I am....going.... to... bed.

That's it.

maybe.

Actually, is it after 10?

Hey, I'm perking up a bit!

Sinister Squirrel Embarks on Seven-Day Reign of Terror
Saturday, August 12, 2006

It seems the residents of Winter Park, Fla., can rest easy as unspeakable evil has met its just end.

It was an unrivaled force of destruction capable of inspiring sheer terror in the hearts of the stoic. It was a sinister picnic crasher hell-bent on havoc. It was a vicious villain who seemed to take pleasure in inflicting injury on the innocent.

It was a squirrel. And it was one bad rodent.

When word spread about the demise of the squirrel in Winter Park's Central Park, more and more of its victims came forward with tales of unprovoked fury and picnics crashed.

Dylan Osborne, 19, says he could’ve ended the critter’s seven-day reign of terror if authorities would’ve heeded his call, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

He and his friends were celebrating a birthday in the park when they came face to face with the furry fiend’s fury. The squirrel jumped on his friend, latched on to her leg and bit her. When they shook it off, it attacked her shoes as they lay by the fountain.

When Osborne went to swat it away, it turned on him.

"It started getting in attack position towards me," he said.

Osborne caught the critter mid-flight in a cake box and called the authorities, but after a few hours the squirrel began chewing through his impromptu cage. Even after trading the box for a bucket, they were forced to let the menace free after waiting for city workers who never came.

"I was furious," Lance Osborne, Dylan’s father, said. "My son basically sat on top of this squirrel on a cake box and on a bucket in downtown Winter Park, and no one did anything about it."

"Normally we don't respond to squirrels," Dil Luther, assistant manager for the animal-services division, said.

Alisa Cox and her 3-year-old son, Carson, were walking through the park when they saw a frightened woman being chased by a squirrel coming in their direction.

Before they knew it, the squirrel gave up on the lady and went medieval on Carson’s leg.

"He's just so terrified," Cox said. "He told his daddy, 'I want you to go back there and run him over with the car.'"

Authorities were eventually able to catch the squirrel with a litter trapper, but not before a failed attempt in which they tried to subdue it with pepper spray.

"All it does is fuel my fires that it's been going on for a full week," said James Klute, whose son was attacked while kicking a soccer ball in the park. "Once it happens once, someone should go out and do something."
