Life After The Hollow

 Hollow Reissue #1

Well, with the dog days of summer upon us, and little happening to blog about, I have searched the basement of Hollowblog for some things I posted waaay back here in the beginning.... when hardly anybody read this thing.

So.... here is a reissue from last April when I had an interesting
encounter with my crazy neighbor and his gun.

.....................................................................

Oh yea!

The adrenaline is still coursing through my body and the smell of gunpowder has filled the hole in my soul where the war god lives.

Our friendly partying neighbor from across the woods asked us if we would mind if he fired off his handgun. Charmed, as any proper southerner would be at this act of chicken fried etiquette we said "Sure!" and waited for the gun to go off. It did finally go off after a gravid moment of silence. It was cool! Even cooler was when he invited me over to have a shot with it. Now, I don't like handguns generally, but I didn't hesitate to run through the dark and tangled woods in my bare feet to have a crack at the firearm, which was a 32, btw.

I get there and after a little small talk he hands me the gun and I ask if it's ready to shoot and he says it needs to be cocked and I pause and look at the weapon like I had no clue what he was talking about. A second of this tension seemed like an hour as I just looked dumbfounded at the weapon. Mercifully, he reached over and cocked it for me and then said to just fire into the hill behind his house. So, I took aim and gently squeezed the trigger and it finally went off with a strong kick and a LOUD pop and due to the darkness I saw flame shoot out the barrel. Man, the testosterone was just surging through my hands, which weren't embarassingly jarred and shaking since I was using the proper two hand hold.

It was fun to do that, but I still am not a big fan of handguns.

This kid really is growing on me and now we have plans to get together for a cookout and maybe some gunfiring? Or a cock fight?

That was an unusual experience and was definitely blogworthy!

 Appalachia Images

Well, since I have nothing else to offer today I guess I'll share some photography from this beautiful area I live in. I'm located at the far south end of the Appalachian chain and though the mountains aren't all that tall around here, the land is still pretty rugged and it is heavily forested and just lovely to the spirit. It's no wonder I love to hike so often....although that's been curtailed until Fall when the humidity and heat backs off...

So, here are some pics taken near our little hollow in the hills...

Deep in the forest...

A mountain stream....

A rugged canyon...

A mountain view.....

A country lane in Fall....

Where the hollow sits... home sweet home...

 Ugh........

Ugh.......

Well, your humble hollow narrator has come down with some funk that will make your skin crawl....

A stomach buggy type disorder?

Yuck!

I'll spare you all the gory details but I am dehydrated, crawling with chills and cramps, cranky as a hungover mule, and I have been drained of all life force.

At least the ole toilet seat is still usually warm when I go for another round from my previous visit just a few minutes before!

WOOT?

I have spent alot of the day in bed and am hopefully going to turn the corner on this yuck of yuckiness sometime tomorrow....

I want to get on and catch up on your blogs (one of my favorite new things to do) but I probably wont get to that until I feel better, tomorrow night.

Cheers!

 A Morality Question

I see that a number of streamers are posing questions of ethics and morality on their blogs as of late and so as to not be left in the dust, I will pose the following question of moral ethical moralities!

What?

Anyhoos....

Is it WRONG to dress up like a head of lettuce and then bolt into a blood drive, grab 5 pints of blood, and then speed away on a unicycle that has been constructed from a wheel and gerbil ovaries?

This has been bugging me for days!

 The Toy Nazi

We have a little Nazi soldier that lives in our room.

No, really!

He was a little soldier that I got in a set of German army men, and then painted when I was a little kid. He still has his Waffen SS uniform on, but he was changed his ways. He sits on the edge of our little water machine that makes lovely gurgling noises while we sleep and he is quietly sitting there regretting his fascist and violent past. He still has his helmet and uniform but he has no rifle. (it broke off many years ago) Now, he just meditates and awaits the judgment of God. He seems peaceful.

So, I guess there is spiritual redemption for all of us......even for a toy Nazi soldier.

May God bless him for his new outlook on life.

Peace,
